I didn't get my confirmation e-mail?
Firstly, check your spam or junk mail folder. The chances are it's in there.
If it's not in there go to 'Login' at the top of the screen. Under 'Already a Home Of The Handmade user? ' type the username and password which you registered with and click 'Login to Members Area' button. It will then come up with a screen asking you if you wish for the confirmation e-mail to be resent.
If you still are not receiving the e-mail you should contact us. Go to the 'Contact' page at the top right of the screen and let us know your problem.

Why is there a limit on my account of £1?
There isn't really a limit on your account it is just a allowance that we give you when you start selling. We allow you to spend £1 before you have to put any money onto your account. You do still have to pay for your listings just not right away. An e-mail will be sent to you asking for payment when the time comes.
HomeoftheHandmade.com has done this so you don't have to pay after every listing. This would become very annoying. Going through all the screens and all the hassle to pay just 20p (or 5p if your listing handmade cards).
My account has been suspended. Why?The most common reason is that you have reached your £1 limit. See 'Why is there a limit on my account of £1' for reasons for the limit. See 'How do I pay for listings?' to find out how to pay.
How do I pay for listings? It is very simple to pay your account. Login to your account on HomeoftheHandmade.com. You will then be taken to a screen called 'Members Area' - 'Summary'. There is a box on this screen called 'Credit your account'. Here, type in the amount you would like to credit your account and click the button 'Proceed'. You will then be taken to your preferred means of paying ie Paypal.
If you would like to just clear what you owe. Type in the same amount that is next to 'Balance' which is just above the 'Credit your account' box. If you would like to credit more money to pay for future listings. Type in the amount of money you would like to pay.

Site Rules What are the HomeoftheHandmade.com rules?
HomeoftheHandmade.com rules are outlined within the Terms and Conditions which you legally agree to when registering.
The key thing really is to be kind and understanding to other users, to only list Handmade items (excluding certain items placed in the 'Craft supplies') and to place all items in what you believe to be the most relevant category.
Can I sell non-handmade items on HomeoftheHandmade.com?The only time you can sell non-handmade items on HomeoftheHandmade.com is when they are 'Craft Supplies'. All other items have to be handmade.
It is for HomeoftheHandmade.com to decide whether or not an item is handmade and hold the right to remove the item for the site.
If you see a non-handmade item on HomeoftheHandmade.com which is not 'Craft Supplies' then please see 'How can I report a user or item?' for more information.
See 'What happens if a user breaks the HomeoftheHandmade.com rules?' on FAQ for more information on the consequences of breaking the rules.
How do you make sure items on HomeoftheHandmade.com are handmade?
We run checks to make sure all items are handmade. If there is a query on an item we will suspend it and contact the person who has listed it. We will be fair and listen before making a decision. If we feel that the item isn't handmade we will consider it a breech of the HomeoftheHandmade.com rules and action will be taken. See 'What happens if a user breaks the HomeoftheHandmade.com rules?' for more information.
Of course, if you spot an item which you feel isn't handmade or breaks the Homeofthehandmade.com rules please report the item. Go to 'How can I report a user or item?' on FAQ for information on how to do this. All reports are followed up.
How can I report a user or item?To report a user or an item you have to register as a user and login. Then on the item page there is a 'Report this Auction' button at the top of the page.
Click this and you can then tell us what you think of the user or item. We will follow up and deal with every report of abuse. That's a promise.
What happens if a user breaks the HomeoftheHandmade.com rules? We are not going to terminate a user because of a genuine mistake. Most disputes can be dealt with personally and privately but, if necessary, a users site privileges may be suspended or an account may be terminated.
Sellers Listings and StoreHow long are my listings on HomeoftheHandmade.com for?All listings on HomeoftheHandmade.com are for 174 days. This is considered to be 6 months (based on a 7.25 day average week and a 4 week month).
What are 'Store Meta Keywords'?'Store Meta Keywords' are your personal meta tags for your store.
Meta tags are keywords which search engines (such as google, yahoo etc) read to get information about the content of the page or website.
We give you the chance to personally be placed on search engines to be found by the public. We strongly recommend that you fill this section in.
See 'What should I write in the 'Store Meta Keywords' text box?'' on FAQ for information on what to put in this text box.
What should I write in the 'Store Meta Keywords' text box?Write all the keywords that relate to you and your items. Be relevant and thorough. Remember to separate your words with commas but do not put spaces between them. This gives you the best results.
For example, if you sell all sorts of jewellery list everything to do with them - Jewellery, necklace, earrings, bracelet, gemstone, glass beads, handmade, sterling silver, silver, gold,Tibetan silver, gift, treat, etc etc etc......
The more keywords you list, the more chance you have of a search engine finding your items.
How do I link my website to my HomeoftheHandmade.com store? For direction on how to do this go to 'SELLERS - PROMOTE YOU AND YOUR ITEMS' page at the bottom right of the screen. On this page we even provide you with images and buttons to make your website look professional.
If you have any problems e-mail sam@homeofthehandmade.co.uk who will be happy to help and will get back to you ASAP.
I can't find a category for my item?
There are so many different types of Handmade items we can't have a category for them all and so we have created a 'Other craft' category for you to use.
If you feel that there is a need for a new category then please get in touch with us. We will look at the demand and create one if we agree. Go to the 'Contact' page at the top right of the screen to contact us.
Don't worry, if you place your item in the 'Other craft' it will still show up when people do a search for your type of item. Also, if you use the meta tags text box your item will show up on the search engines such as google, yahoo etc.
See 'What are 'Store Meta Keywords'' within FAQ for more info.
Can I put a link to my site from my listing?
Unfortunately no you can't. As we can't guarantee that all items on any external site are handmade it could give the site a bad name. This is bad for us all.

Feedback - Buying and SellingHow do I leave feedback?Once the transaction has been completed either as a seller or as a buyer, you can leave feedback about the person and item you are dealing with.
The easiest way of doing this is to login to the site and click the 'Leave comments' page, just under 'Reputation' on the left hand side of the screen. There you can rate the buyer or seller.
GeneralWhy is it cheaper to list handmade greeting cards? Most handmade greeting cards are sold at low prices which would mean that 20p for a listing is a massive chunk of the profit. We want to be as fair as possible to all crafters and feel that 5p is a fitting price. Yes, we know that other items sell as cheap but it's not possible for us to tailor all fee's and we are doing our best to be fair.
Why does it say auction? It's just language that everyone can understand. Internet talk. You can't bid on any item on HomeoftheHandmade.com as this can result in the crafter not receiving the required and deserved price.
I have a great idea to help HomeoftheHandmade.com. Will you want to hear it?
Of course we would. We created the site because we listened to artists and crafters needs and we aren't going to stop now.
Go to the 'Contact' page by clicking 'Contact' at the top right of the screen.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.
